Once an EMT completes paramedic training they will usually be required to take another examination in order to certify their skills.
Other qualifications for EMT workers include being in good physical condition, possessing agility and dexterity and being emotionally stable. Having strong mathematical skills helps in this job as well. Most employers do require criminal background checks. EMTs must have people skills and be able to work with staff members of various hospitals and medical facilities. The average income for EMT personnel is about $33,000 a year.
